2025 Opolo Harvest Internships
Opolo Wines, LP is seeking motivated and enthusiastic interns for the 2025 harvest season. These positions offer hands-on experience in both vineyard and cellar operations, as well as laboratory work.
Whether you’re interested in grape growing or winemaking, this is a great opportunity to learn from a skilled and energetic team.
Details:
- Pay range: $18-20 per hour, based on experience.
- Overtime pay (1.5x rate) for extra hours worked.

Vineyard Intern: Late June to Early November:
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Assess maturity and vine development and record field observations.
- Collect maturity samples.
- Manage personal sampling schedule and coordinate daily routes to ensure timely results.
- Assist the lab in processing juice samples for analysis and tasting.
- Work closely with the Winemaking team, providing daily maturing analysis for blocks.
- Daily tasks will be more lab-focused as harvest slows down for the vineyard side (barrel sampling, analysis, inoculations, additions).
- Assist with compiling and filing seasonal viticulture notes and maintaining vineyard data reports.
Lab Intern: August to November/December:
As a Harvest Lab Intern, you’ll play a key role in the winemaking process, with hands-on tasks that include:
- Conducting key analyses (alcohol, pH, TA, VA, ML, RS, SO2, phenolics).
- Monitoring fermentation procedures and helping to implement them.
- Preparing and inoculating yeast, malolactic cultures, and other additions.
- Setting up, calibrating, and operating lab equipment—both automated analyzers and traditional wet chemistry methods.
- Preparing reagents, standards, and solutions for analysis.
- Collecting and analyzing samples from tanks, barrels,and bins.
- Monitoring alcoholic and malolactic fermentations.
- Performing lab trials and recording data in Excel.
Cellar Intern: August to November:
Positions/Shifts Available
Morning Crew
- Shift Start: 5 am to 3-5 pm
- Primarily responsible for digging tanks in the morning. The rest of the shift duties are outlined below.
Afternoon/Night Crew
- Shift Start: 1 pm to 11 pm, 1 am
- Main duties include drains, processing, finishing press runs, sanitation and cleaning. The rest of the shift duties are outlined below.
- Duties to include but not limited to:
- Running crush equipment
- Barrel work
- Sorting fruit
- Cap management(pumpovers/punchdowns)
- Press operations
- Juice/wine transfers
- Additions and inoculations
- Brix/temp of fermenting tanks
- Assist with draining/pressing
- Equipment sanitization/ cleaning
- Other harvest related duties as required
Prior harvest experience is desired but not essential. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, detail driven individuals who possess an aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates should have good communication skills, be reliable, punctual, prepared to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, day shift, night shift, and holidays.
All candidates will need to be fit and capable of working long hours, lift weight up to 50lbs, and endure extended periods of time walking, standing, and climbing ladders. All safety protocols must be adhered to while employed by Opolo. Candidates must have reliable means of transportation and a clean driving record.
