Bottling Line Operator/ Cellar Technician

Job Type: Full time
Compensation: $21 – $28 per hour, DOE
Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

To be successful in the role, the best-fit candidate must have the following skills:  

Qualifications & Skills:

• 2-4 years of hands-on bottling line and cellar work experience (Maintenance experience a plus)
• Forklift experience
• Ability to write, read and understand workorders in a winery software program (Vintrace).
• Self-motivated, have strong organizational skills and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, clients and coworkers.
• Ability to maintain a high level of quality while maintaining a safe, fast-paced environment.
• Highly organized, accurate, detail oriented and strive for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Bottling Line Operations:
• Coordinate and manage daily bottling floor operations to include efficient changeovers and accurate set up
• Ensure all materials are ready, prepared and correct for scheduled bottling
• Ensure all bottling line equipment is running at optimum efficiency
• Ensure finished product is in accordance with company, governmental and custom bottling client quality standards and requirements
• Follow instructions from winemaking to ensure wine integrity is always maintained
• Understand the functions of the bottling line equipment including capabilities and limitations
• Sanitation and Safety Compliance: Understand and follow sanitation procedures of bottling equipment
• Follow, observe and enforce all safety rules and food safety protocols
• Read and understand technical manuals and follow documented practices and procedures
• Able to read and follow work orders, report finished work orders into the winery software program (Vintrace)
• Equipment Inventory and management
• Perform bubble point and liquid nitrogen on the bottling line
• Managing bottling line schedules to meet production deadlines
• Effectively communicating with multiple clients, other departments and team members
• Daily shipping and receiving of packaged goods and materials
• Packaged wines and packaging materials inventory (Managing physical inventory of packaged wines and packaging materials)
• Performing weekly/monthly inventory checks on packaging materials and packaged wines (Updating and maintaining a current physical inventory in Vintrace software)
• Complete and update daily bottling reports
• Analysis QC checks during bottling runs: DO, vacuum, slip/torque test, fill heights, label checks(etc.)

Cellar Operations
• Perform and support routine wine movements such as transfers, rackings, additions
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain tanks, hoses, pumps, fittings, and other cellar equipment
• Maintain proper records of all cellar activities in work orders or tracking software
• Performing crossflow filtration on wines and other filtration equipment
• Support the cellar staff as needed
• Perform other bottling and cellar related duties
