Job Title: 2024 Opolo Vineyard Intern

Job Duration: June through October / November

Compensation: $17 and up, depending on experience. 1.5x overtime pay. 

Opolo Vineyards is seeking a vineyard sampler to assist in monitoring maturity in our vineyards for the 2024 harvest. We are looking for a motivated team member eager to expand their knowledge and experience related to grape growing & maturity scouting in a positive & fun working environment.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties to include but not limited to…

• Assess maturity and vine development and record field observations.
• Collect maturity samples.
• Manage personal sampling schedule and coordinate daily routes to ensure timely results.
• Assist the lab in processing juice samples for analysis and tasting.
• Work closely with the Winemaking team, providing daily maturing analysis for blocks.
• Daily tasks will be more lab-focused as harvest slows down for the vineyard side (barrel sampling, analysis, inoculations, additions).
• Assist with compiling and filing seasonal viticulture notes and maintaining vineyard data reports.

Qualifications:

Laboratory experience and applicable course work is desired but not essential.

Prior harvest experience is desired but not essential.

Successful candidates will be highly motivated, detail-driven individuals who possess an aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates should have good communication skills, be reliable, and punctual, prepared to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, day shifts, night shifts, and holidays. Students must take off the fall quarter to be eligible. All candidates will need to be fit and capable of working long hours, lifting weights up to 50 lbs, and enduring extended periods walking, standing, and climbing ladders. All safety protocols must be adhered to while employed by Opolo Vineyards.
